When is segregation acceptable?

I think that this question should be approached from a broad perspective. If "segregation" has to be explained physically, it is an unnatural process, since the nature strives always for the absolute chaos.

During the evolution, humans were forced to introduce a system which allowed them to seperate things from another, to make connections, to compare and to evaluate features of different things and especially: other humans. Therefore, segregation is nothing different than a natural demand of people to make their environment more comprehensive.

But segregation became a powerful tool when the people began to rate the different segregated parts and make them therefore unequal. Is it black or white skin colour, poor or rich, intelligent or dumb, strong or weak - there are thousands of examples.

In my opinion, segregation is then acceptable when it states the truth but never discriminates the different parts.
